At Divine Mercy Catholic School, students in second grade receive Sacramental preparation in the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion. If your interested in learning more about the Catholic Sacraments, please contact the school or parish office.
This Sacrament goes by many names: Confession, Penance, Reconciliation. Through this Sacrament, we acknowledge our sins, express our sorrow in a meaningful way, receive the forgiveness of Christ and His Church, make reparation for what we have done and resolve to do better in the future. It is truly a celebration of God’s love and forgiveness!
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is always available by appointment with Father. Confessions are also available in Payne before the Saturday Mass, at Antwerp before the Sunday Mass, and in Paulding before the Sunday Mass.
Saturday – 3:00 pm – Payne
Sunday – 7:30 am – Antwerp
Sunday – 9:50 am – Paulding
Thursday – 8:30 am – Payne
Or by appointment, call 419-399-2576 to schedule.
The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life” (Lumen Gentium 9). The Eucharist is truly the Body and Blood of Jesus. This sacrament brings us into the fullness of our life in Christ, nourishing us with spiritual food.
First Communion for students is celebrated in 2nd grade. Students need to attend at least one previous year of faith formation – in the Catholic School or in a parish religious education class – in order to celebrate First Communion. Sacramental preparation is done through the Catholic School, through the child’s Wednesday PSR class, or at home with the help of the parish catechetical leader. The First Communion retreat is mandatory.
Adults and students older than 2nd grade who have not yet celebrated their First Communion should contact Father or Theresa Conley.
